"A wine lover's place." That's how I knew I would soon be there and at the risk of sounding cliche, there only one way I can describe my experience at the unique, one of a kind house by the hill. Best dining experience!

I discovered Chez Sonia online and the line on their instagram description "wine lovers" basically sealed the deal for me. I was completely sold! I knew I had to check it out.
So I woke up one Saturday and the bright mid morning sun provided just the perfect weather to throw on something summery and step out of the house. The stunning restaurant is very creatively decorated , airy with a combination of both indoor and outdoor garden setting giving you a natural outdoorsy feel that is so tranquil.

The house is charmingly unique and the mix of art nouvea and bent wood nubian chairs are just a part of the great ambiance and relaxed vibe reflected all over the property so whether you choose to sit indoors or out in the garden, you cannot go wrong either way.
I choose to sit by the patio overlooking Karura forest and I was delighted to find myself surrounded by beautiful flowers, moon flower shrubs and lush greenery as I sampled some of their good wines from the impressive red wine list.
Bustling with cool style and character, Chez Sonia reminds me of the fresh breath of the countryside air, a sense of I'm home.
If you want a quiet laid back brunch, lunch or a splendid afternoon sampling red, white or rose wines in a tranquil beautiful environment drive down Peponi road, Westlands- Nairobi, and you shall find Chez Sonia wine lovers.
The menu is very French with not much vegetarian choices just to note. My favorite was pâté and the buratta. The cheese platters do have more matured cheese and their French roti is fondue and not chapati and the bread is delish! Ask for the olive oil and vinegar to go with your bread.
I can easily see myself spending some a lone time on a Saturday afternoon enjoying a good read with a glass of wine or two. Or just dressing up and coming over with the girls for a laid back , fun afternoon with chit chat, laughter and wine of course!
