Travel, they say is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer, I agree.

There's something about traveling to a new destination that re-invents and rejuvenates perpetually stressed, jaded urban dwelling souls we have all morphed into. It is however, interesting to note just how you and I approach the same destination in totally different ways. I for instance began my infatuation with travel as:
The Escapist
Motivated by the delightful delusion that anything under the sun, namely, your own reflection in the mirror in times of boredom, guilt, fear, worry, failure, conflict, heart break as in my case can magically disappear if you just put as much distance as possible away from the situation. Well, it can't but its always worth a try. I mean somehow my 'escap' ades led me here, writing to you week after week as a travel blogger.
The Typical Tourist AKA The Conformist
While most people travel for personal satisfaction, this traveler's personal satisfaction comes not from exploring the destination but more the approval of the destination by the social media judges. Their imagination when it comes to choice of destination ends with the words, well known and famous period, with a t! A city map in hand and a tour guide following close by, the typical tourist trots around town with one aim, not to miss any of the clichéd tourist attractions. No must-sees and and must-dos can be missed in the perpetual seeking for instagram-able moments, its the whole point of vacation right?

The Good Planner
The devil is in the detail and vacation is a task so because failing to plan is planning to fail, the way to have your best foot in sensible shoes forward is to actually have a way forward. Literally wearing sensible shoes, the good planner will rise at dawn and stay till dusk if that is what it takes to make the most of a new destination, which is bound to be a lot of ground to cover thanks to the likely elaborate to-do list based on the thorough pre-travel research. Because you can never be prepared enough, the good planner will pack a lot of books and return with even more and as other travelers get exhausted just by the thought of planning, this traveler will cheerfully plan their vacation to the last detail.
The Thrill Seeker
These holiday makers exist a long a continuum from safaris in Africa to seek the thrill of getting up-close with the big five, or the wildebeest migration to Switzerland and France skiing holidays. The thrill seeker is not limited to the slum tourist, war corespondents and bungee jumping enthusiasts willing to risk tying a rubber band on their ankle to leap off a bridge.
The Lone Ranger
Is mostly seeking to find themselves as they ponder the deeper philosophies of life. You are likely to find these soul searches starring at the cliff or taking lonely strolls in the woods. Unlike...
The City Slicker
Who enjoy the hustle and bustle of city life. Any opportunity to get lost in between traffic in vibrant nightlife, shopping malls, hubs and recreational centers gives them a kick
The Collector
A hoarder of the exceptional and exotic, this traveler is like a poetic hunter gathering uncommon experiences in out of the way places to meticulously display in a way that tells a compelling story. Such an example is the African heritage house offering displays of rich culture from all over Africa. Similar to the collector is the travel photographer traveling through time and space by capturing natural beauty, panoramic and mind boggling images around them.
The Backpacker
Independent travel with a low budget sums it up.
The Retreater
Vacation equates to chill-out time. If it offers relaxation and escapism from ending fast moving city life its a plan.
The Weekender
Financially stable travelers challenging themselves to explore a new destination even if just within the boundaries of their city.
Regardless of the type of traveler you are,we can agree that travel broadens our cultural horizons and culinary quest.
